How to Survive a Melbourne Cup Luncheon - Lazy Girls Style

Who doesn't love Melbourne Cup day? The dresses, the betting, the food! Oh the food! How hard is it to resist the food on Melbourne Cup day?


If your workplace is anything like ours you will have faced a banquet of delights in recognition of the most famous horse race in Australia. Also, If you're anything like us, you would have found it hard to resist the temptations.

We have put together our top tips for facing food-fests such as this to help you.
  • Fill up on healthy snacks before lunch. Our snacks of choice were yoghurt, almonds and fruit. 


  • Try and choose salads (without dressing)
  • Have some chicken (just remove the skin)


  • Avoid the platters of sweet treats or only limit yourself to one
  • Limit your alcohol intake (we didn't have any alcohol at our event so this was easy for us!)
  • Wear something that makes you feel cute and proud of all the hard work you've already achieved so you're not tempted to overindulge.
  • Spend your winnings on non-food treats - a trip to Lorna Jane or your next PT session
